Golani Rifles
Classic Arms is now carrying Golani rifles, and they describe them as "the best rifle deal in the country." I don't know if that's true or not, but the website description makes these things sound like very sweet firearms: the best of both the AK and the AR, for about $600.
Anybody out there have personal experience with one of these? As between buying one of these rifles and another 50oz of Ag, it's a tough choice. I have a low end WASR-10 AK rifle, and like it well enough, but these Golanis sound better. Thoughts? |
Re: Golani Rifles
They are nice, a heck of a lot nicer than WASRs, but nothing near the real thing.
They have a heck of a lot longer sight radius than an AK, and better sights (aperture). Milled reciever soaks up the annoying forward slap of the bolt/carrier. The folding stock is positive and sturdy. Nice fit/finish, and better ergonomics than a standard AK. On the downside, it's 5.56 (more expensive, and I don't really like the round), the bore is not chrome lined. The mags are expensive and harder to find. The worst part IMO is that the trigger is TERRIBLE. It's a Tapco, but it's far and away the worst Tapco trigger I've ever handled. Loose and spongy, breaks at a different place every time...it's BAD. Add it all up, and the trigger brings the accuracy back down to the WASR level. But with the 600frn price, and the price of the WASRs these days, I'd certainly take the Golani. Oh, I forgot to mention, it's all tacti-cool, black, and sexy. |

Wow excellent breakdown Beef!!!
I learned much on that post my good sir :ok: T |
Re: Golani Rifles
Golani's seem to be very unpopular compared to AR's and AK's.......but the price seems ok.

Mostly Galil parts...
I owned a pre-ban Galil in .223 back in the early 90's (paid $900). I liked all the accoutrements...flip-up night sights, built-in bi-pod, folding stock, milled receiver, chromed bore and chamber, carry handle, left-hand friendly charging handle...it LOOKED COOL, like a real "assault rifle"...It also shot M193 pretty well (~2.5 MOA). A quality-made rifle. It came with two 35 round mags and 50 rounders were available, though pricey. When all was said and done, I ended up selling it to a friend for about $1250 several months later. I had decided it was a little too HEAVY to carry around all day, wouldn't shoot as well as my Colt HBAR, and accessories and spare mags at the time were difficult to find and expensive... Also if I was going to carry something around that heavy I would rather own the .308 version. Anyways, if you like one by all means get one... If I personally wanted a Kalashnikov action in .223 I would go Saiga---but y'all didn't ask me and besides you probably know that already.. |
Re: Golani Rifles
I HAD the real thing but have not had the oppertunity to experience the Golani Galil.
I assume its chambered in .223 only ? A pic of mine below. Thanks for the review. Quote:

They are great shooters. Well-balanced and accurate.
I would have bought one.......except for the .223 part. And therefore I have no desire to own one. What else needs to be said? |

Does your shoulder hurt after several hundred rounds behind it? |
Re: Golani Rifles
Looking at the INSANE prices that low end AKs are being offered at I would IF in the market for a soon to be banned rifle buy one of these.
Low end AKs should be around $300...I see Wasr 10's being offered for $500-$600. The magazine issue is a problem BUT one thing to remember I guess is this,if this is to be actually used in the future, after the first time there will hopefully be a chance to pick up other types of firearms.... It is also supposedly heavy compared to the AR but is it really when you take into consideration how much extras people add to their AR's??? Of course I am partial to folding stock rifles. |
Re: Golani Rifles
Prolly worth the $600 IMHO, I don't dislike .223 as much as the rest here.

Re: Golani Rifles
Thanks Al
I dunno I haven't put anymore than 1 magazine (25 Rounds) through this one. I have others but this is the one I am thinking of selling these days. 4500.00 and its yours..... I have FN Rifles that make my shoulder hurt however and then the king of hurt for me in a Winchester model 70 in 30/06. Quote:
